Relationships
Here's a tip: take your focus off of MEETING the right person, and invest your time and energy in BECOMING the right person. — If your focus is on meeting the right person, good luck; that could take a while (can you feel the sarcasm?). If your focus is on becoming the right person, you grow in wisdom, patience, and discernment. This allows you to prepare your heart to take advantage of the opportunity when it presents itself. Seven days out of seven days a week, I still feel undeserving of the blessing and gift of marriage. Some of those thoughts stem from lingering guilt and shame. Some of those thoughts come from the Spirit, reminding me how good the Father is... Nevertheless, I know I'm not quite the man I want to be, but I can thank God that I'm not the man I used to be. Although this relationship tip obviously is geared toward the single folks out there who are looking for a godly partner, if you are in a committed relationship (courting, engaged, married), don't forget to continue becoming the right person. Grow yourself, daily. One of my favorite leadership lessons goes like this: leader of one, leader of many, can't lead one, can't lead any. Learn how to love and lead yourself, so you can present your best self to someone else. Love you guys. Let's grow. JT
